This was my first meeting as a young ambassador, I was very impressed.
It was an opportunity for young people to have a voice and to be listened to. We was all given out options to speak about something we all felt passionate about.
I took my five minutes on the first Young Ambassador panel to talk about confidence issues and how they affect us growing up. For the first time, I actually felt like my voice had a purpose and I have Swale Young People and Patrick to thank for giving me the opportunity to do so.
The day was very well organised, all the topics were related to young people and raised some important issues. Issues that we have now spoken about and we are aware we can start to make things better for local young people.
In the breaks I had the opportunity to talk to some amazing people. I had a long detailed conversation with Emmanuel. He has opened up some opportunities I never thought I’d have. I was also speaking with another organisation that are very local to me and they’ve invited me to come and speak to the children at her youth club.
So all in all an amazing experience, I feel like the day has helped my confidence grow as a speaker and as a person and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that that Swale Youth Network offers us.
